Posted on Arianna CarusoVerified Cusco is incredible Even better with the right guide I only had one full day in Cusco before heading to Machu Picchu, so I wanted to make it count. Neotropic Peru's city tour was the perfect choice. We visited Sacsayhuamán, the Plaza de Armas, the cathedral, and local markets. Our guide wove together Inca history, colonial history, and modern Peruvian culture seamlessly. By the end I felt like I truly understood the city. Highly recommend as a first-day activity to set the tone for your trip.Posted on Август КесьовVerified Witnessing condors in the wild is something else entirely I had no idea what to expect from this tour but it was one of the most extraordinary wildlife experiences of my life. Watching Andean condors — with their enormous wingspans — soaring above the valleys was breathtaking. Our guide knew exactly where and when to position us for the best views. He also pointed out other Andean birds throughout the day. If you're even remotely interested in nature or wildlife, this is unmissable.Posted on Witold JVerified The most stunning lake I've ever seen Turquoise waters surrounded by snow-capped peaks — it looked like a painting. The hike was moderate but rewarding, and our guide kept the energy up the whole way. Breakfast and lunch were both included and genuinely tasty. They even had horses available for the ascent, which was kind and thoughtful. I was nervous about altitude sickness but they had everything covered including first aid and coca leaves. Absolutely magical day.Posted on Eugen TudorVerified The perfect introduction to the Andes We weren't sure if we should do the Sacred Valley or go straight to Machu Picchu — best decision we made was doing both! The Valley tour took us through Chinchero, the weaving demonstrations were fascinating, and Ollantaytambo blew our minds. Our guide never rushed us and always made time for questions. Small group, friendly atmosphere, gorgeous scenery. A must-do before Machu Picchu.Posted on AlexanderVerified Machu Picchu Full Day I had dreamed of visiting Machu Picchu for years, and Neotropic Peru made it everything I hoped for. The early morning train through the Sacred Valley was magical on its own. Our guide Bryan was passionate, knowledgeable, and took us to the best spots for photos. He explained the history of the Inca Empire in a way that made it all come alive. Perfectly organized from pickup to drop-off. This is the real deal — don't book with anyone else!Posted on Emilia SVerified A Journey to Remember! My Peru trip with Neotropic was a journey to remember! Prepare for an unforgettable adventure that combines the wonder of Manu Wildlife Escape, the serenity of nature, and a deep cultural connection to the Amazon rainforest.
We depart Cusco early in the morning, traveling through scenic valleys and traditional Andean communities. Our journey includes a stop in Paucartambo, a charming colonial town, where we’ll visit a fascinating local museum. Along the way, we’ll enjoy a packed lunch surrounded by breathtaking landscapes. As we continue to the Cloud Forest, we’ll enter a region rich in endemic wildlife, including the Spectacled Bear, Cock-of-the-Rock, and diverse flora like orchids, bromeliads, and ferns. We’ll arrive at our Amazon Lodge for a comfortable night surrounded by the lush forest.
After breakfast, we continue our journey to the small town of Pilcopata, and then to the Port of Atalaya on the Madre de Dios River (600 m.a.s.l.). On the way, we’ll make a stop to visit local coca plantations, offering a glimpse into this unique aspect of Amazonian culture.
From here, enjoy stunning views overlooking the vast Lowland Rainforest. We’ll board our boat at Atalaya Port and navigate down the pristine waters of the Madre de Dios River to our next Rainforest Lodge.
In the afternoon, we’ll visit Machuwasi Lake, where we’ll paddle quietly on a catamaran, ideal for spotting diverse birdlife such as hoatzins (a prehistoric bird), horned screamers, red-capped cardinals, herons, and cormorants. Along the trail, we may encounter monkeys, capybaras, snakes, and other wildlife.
Finishing the day, we’ll have the option of a night walk to observe the forest’s nocturnal insects and amphibians.
We start the day with breakfast and then head back by boat to the Port of Atalaya. Our vehicle awaits to take us back to Cusco, with a special stop at Hummingbird garden (550 m.a.s.l.), a sustainable conservation center where we can observe and photograph a variety of hummingbirds, as well as toucans, king vultures, monkeys, and—if we’re lucky—a sloth. We return to Cusco by early evening.
The dry season from May to September is ideal for clearer weather and optimal wildlife sightings. However, the rainy season from November to March adds a lush, vibrant touch to the rainforest.
The trekking involves varied terrains, muddy, bumpy, and hills, ranging from high mountains to cloud forests. It is considered moderate, and participants should be in good physical condition.
Manu is renowned for its rich biodiversity. Wildlife sightings may include macaws, parrots, tapirs, jaguars, and various monkey species, among others.
